The second ever national Digital Lok Adalat, to be held on November 12, is set to handle over one crore cases. .As per a press release, so far, over 80 lakh cases, including pre-litigation cases and challans, have been registered in the states of Rajasthan and Maharashtra.The other registered cases include disputes relating to money recovery, electricity bills and other bill payments, telecommunication disputes, and bank litigation..The previously held Digital Lok Adalat in August helped States to settle ₹833,513,857, an amount the upcoming event is expected to surpass. Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary of the Rajasthan Legal Services Authority, spoke of how NALSA has implemented its objective to provide cost-effective and time-efficient dispute resolution mechanisms through such digital adalats.“After the success of the first Digital Lok Adalat, the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority (RSLSA) has again collaborated with Jupitice for the upcoming Lok Adalat. In August, the digitalization of the Lok Adalat led to the registration of record no of cases and also eased the back-end administrative work. We are confident that we are again going to resolve as many cases with the help of Digital Lok Adalat developed by Jupitice,” he said. .During the first Digital Lok Adalat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra had constituted 568 benches and registered 13,54,432 cases.Of these, 11,16,193 were resolved at the pre-litigation stage. In Maharashtra alone, 58,10,712 out of 63, 99,983 traffic challan cases were resolved.Indian company Jupitice has designed and built the Justice Technology Platform on which Digital Lok Adalats are conducted. Its Chief Executive Officer Raman Aggarwal said,“The collaboration with Rajasthan and Maharashtra Legal Services Authority has helped Jupitice in spearheading its ambitious project - Nyaya Ghar Ghar (Delivering Justice at the doorstep of every citizen). We are confident that in the upcoming Lok Adalats, Jupitice will also collaborate with more state legal services authorities across India.”
