In the elections to the Executive Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Senior Advocate Rakesh Kumar Khanna has been elected the new SCBA President..He defeated the nearest rival and incumbent President Senior Advocate Vikas Singh..A total of seven candidates were contesting for the post of President. This included Senior Advocates Vikas Singh, V Shekhar, Adish C Aggarwalla, and Ajit Kumar Sinha and advocates PK Jain and Ajay Mandyal..Advocate Vikrant Yadav has been elected Secretary. This will be his second consecutive tenure as Secretary..The elections took place today in the Supreme Court campus. As per the Final voters’ list, there were 1966 lawyers who were eligible to cast their votes..Senior Advocate Jitender Mohan Sharma has been elected to the post of Vice President and Advocate Vikrant Yadav will take over as the Hon. Secretary with Advocate Preeti Singh as the Joint Secretary..The Election Committee comprised Senior Advocate Shekhar Naphade as its Chairman and Senior Advocates CU Singh and Amarendra Sharan as the two members..In yesterday’s presidential debate Khanna made promises on the issues of electronic infrastructure in the Supreme Court campus, saying that computers equipped with legal journals and other materials will be installed, not only in libraries but also in courtrooms. The strength of mobile and internet reception in the court compound will also be improved, Khanna said.
