A transfer petition seeking the shifting of the Ryan International School murder case from Haryana to Delhi or any other state has been filed in the Supreme Court.

The petition filed by Francis Thomas, an official of Ryan International School who has been arraigned as an accused in the case, was mentioned today before the Chief Justice’s Court by Senior Advocate KTS Tulsi.

Tulsi informed the Bench that due to resolutions being passed by two Bar Associations barring lawyers from appearing for the accused, his client is being stripped off his basic right to be represented by a counsel.

He further argued that fair trial is an integral part of the criminal procedure and is covered under Article 21 of the Constitution. He informed the Bench that no lawyer is being allowed to enter the court premises.

A Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices Amitava Roy and AM Khanwilkar acceded to the request for urgent hearing and agreed to list the case on Monday next week.

The Supreme Court is already hearing a petition filed by Barun Chandra Thakur, the father of the 7-year old boy who was murdered at Ryan International School in Gurugram.
