According to CBI, Ghosh and other doctors (the deceased victim's colleague) tried to cover up the crime and there may have been tampering with the crime scene and evidence.

A special court in Kolkata on Thursday allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct lie detector test Dr. Sandip Kumar Ghosh and four others in the case concerning the rape and murder of a resident doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
