Coalgate: “What kind of investigation is this?” Trial Court frowns at CBI.The special court hearing the criminal cases relating to thecoal scam today pulled up the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for the shoddy manner in which investigations were being conducted. When the hearing began at 10 am, Special Judge Bharat Parashar was initially upset by the fact that the original copy of the minutes of screening committee meeting was missing. The photostat copies were not duly certified for which he rebuked the Investigating Officer (IO). Since the reply of the IO was not satisfactory he asked him to get the case diary and other details and adjourned the matter till 12 in the afternoon..When the hearing re-commenced at 12 pm, the Superintendent of Police was also present along with the IO. The court then proceeded to grill them..“These pages are not in order, many of the pages are blank, Photostat copies are not duly certified. It is a mockery of the procedure”, the Court said..He adjourned the matter for September 22 with a strong direction: “Be fully prepared, so that whatever I ask you, you should be able to answer.”.Power producers seek hearing, SC turns down.The Supreme Court turned down Power companies’ plea to re hear them in the event the Supreme Court cancels the coal blocks pursuant to its judgment of August 25. Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi mentioned the matter today seeking that they be heard but Chief Justice RM Lodha turned down the plea..Sick Italian marine allowed to go home for four months.One of the Italian Marines who suffered a brain stroke has been allowed to go home for four months.
