Supreme Court directs Karnataka High Court to constitute Special Bench to hear Jayalalithaa appeal on daily basis.A Supreme Court Bench presided by Chief Justice HL Dattu today directed the Karnataka High Court to constitute a Special Bench to hear AIADMK Supremo Jayalalithaa’s appeal in the Disproportionate assets case. The Court directed that the case has to be heard on a daily basis and disposed of in three months. The Court also extended the bail granted to Jayalalithaa by four months. Senior Advocate KTS Tulsi appeared for Jayalalithaa today..Coal Scam: Supreme Court rejects Jindal’s plea to pay up in instalments and challenge to Coal Ordinance, 2014.The Supreme Court today rejected the challenge to the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Ordinance, 2014. Apart from allowing auctioning of cancelled coal blocks, the ordinance also permits private players to mine and sell coal. The challenge was made by two companies, Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation and Electrosteel Casting..The Court also rejected a plea by Jindal companies to pay the penalty in instalments. Jindal has to pay more than Rs. 1790 crore by December 31. It had prayed for paying the same in 17 instalments of Rs. 100 crore.
