Registry can't object to filing of fresh cases under old criminal laws: Punjab and Haryana High Court

Three new criminal laws - the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam - came into force on July 1.

In view of the recent implementation of three new criminal laws in India, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has clarified that fresh cases can be filed before the Court either under these new laws or the old criminal laws that stood repealed from July 1.
