Days after NALSAR reported 100% placements for their graduating batch, NUJS, Kolkata has achieved the same, according to a press release issued by the university’s Campus Recruitment Committee (CRC)..All 78 students who sat for placements have secured jobs at law firms, in-house corporates, NGOs and other organizations. Those who did not to take part in the CRC process have chosen litigation, higher studies, civil and judicial service exams and judicial clerkships..The majority of students (49) have opted for domestic law firms, with Cyril Amarchand Managaldas making the most hires (8). Luthra & Luthra and Khaitan & Co have made 6 and 5 hires respectively. 4 students landed training contracts at foreign law firms; 2 have been offered TCs at Linklaters and one each at Allen & Overy and Herbert Smith Freehills. 14 students have secured corporate/in-house jobs, while 7 have joined research organisations, LPOs and NGOs..In the press release, CRC co-ordinator Samkit Sethia commented,.“…We not only had the top six law firms and our regular recruiters but also a whole bunch of first-time recruiters who came on campus after we engaged and connected with them…The average annual salary package offered by foreign law firms is around INR 38-44 lakhs.
