Back in Action? Rajeev Dhavan to appear in Ayodhya case

A couple of weeks after he announced his retirement from court practice, Senior Advocate Rajeev Dhavan has agreed to appear in the Ayodhya dispute as an exception..Advocate for the appellants in the case before the Supreme Court, Ejaz Maqbool, confirmed the same through an email. The mail states,.“This is to inform you that Dr. Rajeev Dhavan, Senior Advocate had been appearing for us in the Babri Masjid matters..However, as you are aware that recently he had taken a decision that he will not appear before the Hon’ble Supreme Court..We requested him to make an exception for the Babri Masjid case and he has accepted our request and he will continue to appear for us in the Babri Masjid case..He will be writing a letter to the Hon’ble the Chief Justice of India that he will continue to appear in his pending matters.”.Earlier this month, Dhavan had written a letter to Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra expressing his desire to quit the profession. That letter stated,.“After the humiliating end to the Delhi case, I have decided to give up court practice..You are entitled to take back the Senior gown conferred on me, though I would like to keep it for memory and services rendered.”.This was after CJI Misra made some stern remarks against Senior Advocates appearing in the volatile case..Dhavan has, in the recent past, had a series of tiffs with various judges at the Supreme Court..[Update at 5:58 pm]: Dhavan has written a letter to Chief Justice Dipak Misra, taking back his statement that he would not practice in courts anymore..Read the letter:
