Advocate Aditya Jain appeared for the petitioner..After tagging the plea along with a suo motu case taken up by the Court, the Bench ordered that district judges should compile a list indicating the number of First Information Reports (FIRs) directed to be registered under Section 156 (3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure in relation to crimes against women and children. .In this regard, the cases of interest would include those involving crimes against women under Sections 376 (rape), 354 (assault on woman with intent to outrage modesty), 304 (culpable homicide), 304B (dowry death), and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code, and offences against children under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. .The order further states,.“These shall be provided in tabular form by each District. .The Registry shall compile and prepare a common tabular statement, which shall be provided to the learned Amicus Curiae and learned counsel for the respondents. .The tabular statement received from various Districts and also the common tabular statement prepared by the Registry shall be placed on record. “.The Rajasthan Government has also been directed to file an affidavit disclosing the number of FIRs against these offences registered independently without Court directions..The Court has sought for information concerning FIRs registered against these offences over a six month period from January 1 to June 20, 2019.
