Pune Porsche accident: Father, grandfather of teen-accused granted bail in kidnapping case

The father and the grandfather of the 17-year-old boy who recently killed two people while driving a Porsche car, were granted bail by a Pune Court in a case of allegedly kidnapping and confining their family driver, PTI reported..The duo had allegedly confined their family driver against his will and had lured him with money and gifts so that he takes responsibility for the accident that occurred on May 19.They were booked for offences under Sections 365 (kidnapping with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine a person) and 368 (wrongfully concealing or keeping in confinement) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).On May 31, the duo had been sent to a 14 days of judicial custody..The juvenile, a son of a prominent builder in Pune, hit the motorcycle with his Porsche car in Kalyani Nagar area.The vehicle reportedly dragged one of the two persons on the bike and finally came to stop after hitting another two wheeler and a car.He was booked for rash and negligent driving and causing harm by endangering safety of lives and death by negligence under sections 304A, 279, 337 and 338 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with provisions of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Act. Later, the father of the teen was also booked for various provisions including Section 75 (wilful neglect of a child, or exposing a child to mental or physical illnesses) and Section 77 (supplying a child with intoxicating liquor or drugs) of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.He had secured bail in that case on June 28..Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court had on June 24, ordered the release of the minor boy from an observation home.Though the boy had been released by a Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) under parental monitoring soon after the accident, his bail was subsequently cancelled and he was sent to the observation home where he was placed under detention.The High Court observed that the custody order putting him in an observation home was illegal and issued without jurisdiction. Therefore, it directed that the teen be placed in custody of his paternal aunt.
