Plea in Allahabad High Court to restrain Yati Narsinghanand from commenting against Prophet Muhammad, Quran

A plea has been filed before the Allahabad High Court to restrain the priest of Ghaziabad's Dasna Devi temple Yati Narsinghanand from making remarks against Prophet Muhammad and the Holy Quran.

The petition filed by two individuals from Mumbai, Mohammad Yusuf and Zakir Husain Mustafa Shaikh, has also sought removal of Narsinghanand's recent "hate speech" from social media, where he allegedly made objectionable comments about Islam and Prophet Muhammad.

The plea has argued that if immediate action is not taken against Yati Narsinghanand, who is allegedly creating a dangerous atmosphere worldwide, it could lead to the failure of the country’s and state’s systems.

"From giving disputed religious statement over the social medial and print media if any has been given may kindly be deleted from the social media or electronic media," the plea said.

The petitioners have also urged the Uttar Pradesh government to take legal action against him, claiming that his activities are anti-national.

Narsinghanand has been booked for hate speech in the past.

He was arrested on January 16, 2022 after being accused of delivering a hate speech against Muslims at a Dharam Sansad event held at Haridwar.

His bail plea was rejected by a magistrate court, but a sessions court granted bail to him on February 7, 2022.

He was also booked in a case in which he was accused of making derogatory remarks against women. He had secured bail in that case too.

In 2023, the Supreme Court had issued notice to Narsinghanand in a contempt of court petition plea filed by activist Shachi Nelli against him for derogatory remarks made against the top court. 

More recently, Narsinghanand was reportedly booked by the Thane Police for an alleged hate speech delivered at Hindi Bhawan in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad on September 29 this year.
