The Patna High Court has decided to hear cases exclusively through virtual mode from January 4, 2022 after certain judges and staff members tested positive for COVID-19..A notice to this effect was issued by the Registrar General of the High Court on Sunday, January 2."In view of the recent surge in the COVID cases wherein a large number of court staff/officers of the Registry and some of the Hon'ble Judges of this court have been tested COVID positive, the competent authority has been placed to decide the functioning of the Court shall be conducted exclusively through virtual mode with effect from 04.01.2022 till further orders," the notice said. Entry into the High Court premises will be strictly prohibited, unless authorised.The Supreme Court and various High Courts have already switched to virtual mode of hearing cases in view of the spike in COVID cases.Jharkhand, Madras, Bombay, Calcutta and Delhi High Courts have reverted to virtual hearing while Allahabad High Court will be hearing cases via hybrid mode with the lawyers having the option to appear via video conference or physically.
