A Delhi court on Thursday denied bail to Parliament Security Breach case accused Neelam Azad..Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Hardeep Kaur of Patiala House Courts rejected the bail plea of Azad. The Court noted that the investigation in the case is at nascent stage and the allegations against Azad are serious in nature as she is alleged to be involved in disrupting the sovereignty and integrity of India. "In view of the above discussions, considering the nature and seriousness of allegations levelled against the applicant/accused and the initial stage of investigation, I do not find it to be a fit case to release the applicant/accused on bail. The present bail application stands dismissed," the Court ordered. .Azad was arrested by the Delhi Police on December 13, 2023 along with three other accused - Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D and Amol Shinde. While Azad and Shinde were protesting outside parliament building, Sharma and Manoranjan D had entered the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors' gallery with canisters emitting smoke.Later, Police also arrested alleged mastermind behind the ‘conspiracy’, Lalit Jha and another co-accused Mahesh Kumawat..While opposing Azad’s bail, the Delhi Police had argued that there was ample evidence to show her complicity in the offence and her release would be detrimental to the probe. It was stated that the accused are influential people and the nature and the gravity of the offence disentitle Azad from seeking bail at this stage..Earlier, the High Court had rejected a habeas corpus plea filed by Azad. The High Court has also stayed the trial court order directing Delhi Police to supply the FIR copy to her. .Advocate Suresh Chaudhary appeared for Neelam Azad.Advocate Akhand Pratap Singh appeared for Delhi Police.
