The Supreme Court today declined a plea for the early listing of a petition seeking a stay on the release of the movie Ram Ki Janmabhoomi (‘Ram’s Birthplace’)..The matter was mentioned by advocate Lily Thomas before the Bench of Justices SA Bobde and S Abdul Nazeer..She said that the release of the movie could impact the mediation ordered by the Supreme Court in Ram Mandir – Babri Masjid case. (Ram ki Janmabhoomi).She sought listing of case submitting that release should be stayed till the mediation is over..The Court, however, refused, saying that release of the movie would not affect the mediation..It, therefore, listed the case after two weeks..The film, directed by Sanoj Mishra reportedly touches upon the Ayodhya/Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid dispute, as well as topics such as Triple Talaq and Nikah Halala.
