NGO writes to United Nations to interfere in Justice Karnan, Kalikho Pul episodes

The Justice Karnan episode might definitely count as one of the worst handled issues of the Supreme Court. By giving the accused judge and experts reasons to rip into the tenability of its order in the contempt case, the Court has increasingly become a punching bag for those not even remotely connected with the matter..Now, an NGO by the name of Human Right Security Council has complained to the United Nations to interfere in the episodes relating to Justice Karnan and Kalikho Pul..The complaint has been filed by the NGO through one Rashid Khan Pathan on May 11. The complaint, which runs into 105 pages, cites various instances of alleged misconduct by various judges of the Madras High Court for which no action was taken; yet “immediate action was taken against Justice Karnan”..The NGO has alleged violation of various rights under the Constitution and International Covenants in passing orders against Justice Karnan..“Gross violation of fundamental rights of victim Shri Justice C.S. Karnan by 7 corrupt Judges of Supreme Court, by convicting him without following the due process of law as guaranteed under Art. 14 & 21 of the constitution of India and Article 9(1) of the United Nations Covenant on Civil Rights, 1966 & Art. 3, 9 , Cl. 10 of Universal Declaration 1948.”.Apart from the Karnan J. episode, the complaint also highlights the apex court’s handling of the suicide note of Kalikho Pul. The complaint proceeds to cite various instances of alleged misconduct by judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, including allegations against CJI Khehar..Besides, the prayers in the complaint also make for an interesting read:.“(A) Treating this petition with urgency under Rule 92 (formerly Rule 86) of United Nation Human Rights Committee’s Rule of Procedure and direct the Special Rapporteur on new communication to issue ‘interim measures’ to Republic of India to direct their police and other state machineries to not to follow and execute the order/s passed in Suo Motu Contempt Petition (c) no. 1 of 2017 against Justice C.S.
