Chief Justice of India (CJI) UU Lalit on Monday said that mentioning of cases in Courtroom No. 1 of the Supreme Court will begin after a few days..He clarified that the mechanism for mentioning will be ready by Thursday, and until then, the original practice of mentioning before the Registrar will be followed."By Thursday we will have the mechanism. Till then we will look at it in chamber and if urgent we will list it...For mentioning, we will go back to the original practice of mentioning it before Registrar, and if it is mentioned, then it will be listed indeed on a given date. Till a mechanism is devised, we will carry this ad hoc process," he stated. .CJI Lalit stated last week at the farewell ceremony for outgoing CJI NV Ramana that he will focus on three areas during his 74-day tenure: case listing, mentioning of urgent matters, and Constitution benches.
