The Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) in association with the District Legal Services Authorities (New Delhi, Central and West) organized Mega Legal Services Camp on March 10, 2018 St. Michael’s School, Pusa Road, Delhi..Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court and Executive Chairperson of DSLSA, Justice Gita Mittal, State Law Minister Kailash Gahlot, Minister for Welfare of SC/ST for Delhi Rajendra Pal Gautam, Delhi High Court judge, Justice C Hari Shankar, District & Sessions Judges, Director General (Prisons) and Senior Members of the District Bar Associations were among those who were in attendance..The central theme of Camp was Rights of SCs/ STs, Child Rights and Drug Abuse. Special stalls were set up which focused on their rights and provided awareness about the different schemes for SCs/STs and Children as well as for de-addiction. They were also assisted in filling up forms for getting registered to avail benefits of the different schemes..In the special stall set up for addressing the issue of drug abuse, several persons approached the stall for information and also registered themselves for follow up. About 100 people registered themselves at the Stall dedicated for SCs/ST regarding various government schemes such as Scholarship Scheme and the Coaching Scheme for SCs..To focus on the health issues of commercial sex workers, there were facilities for HIV check up at the camp. More than 3500 free condoms were distributed. Besides, stalls of various government departments were set up for providing services to the people such as Aadhaar Cards enrollment and updation, Pan Card, ration card, pension, schemes related to Senior Citizens etc..During the camp, more than 300 persons enrolled for Aadhar cards and Pan cards. Stalls were also set up by North Delhi Municipal Corporation and Department of Forests and Environment on keeping Delhi clean and green as well as segregation of wet and dry waste. Around 3500 saplings were distributed amongst people..More than 2500 persons participated in the Camp and benefited under various schemes of the government and availed legal services in the Camp. More than 200 homeless Children also participated in the camp and availed the services..Justice Gita Mittal while appreciating the efforts of DSLSA, stressed that unless the last person in the community is ensured access to justice and right of Free Legal Aid, the task of DSLSA in reaching out to the marginalized communities is far from over.
