Manjula Chellur to become first woman Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court; Assumes office on August 5

J. Manjula Chellur, the current Chief Justice of Kerala, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. To assume office on August 5, 2014 she will become the first woman Chief Justice of Calcutta. Originally a judge in the Karnataka High Court, and the first woman to occupy the post, J. Chellur made the Acting Chief Justice of Kerala in November of 2011. She became the Chief Justice less than a year later.
