Madras High Court refuses to entertain plea to bar BJP leader Nainar Nagendran from contesting Lok Sabha polls

Election officials had seized ₹3.9 crore from three passengers onboard the Nellai Express. They had later claimed that the money was meant for distribution to voters in the Tirunelveli where Nagendran is contesting.

Nainar Nagendran, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the Tirunalveli constituency, cannot be barred from contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on the ground that cash amounting to ₹3.9 crores was seized from persons allegedly linked to him, the Madras High Court said on Thursday.
