Madras High Court junks plea to declare Thirukkural as 'National Book' at par with Constitution

The High Court was hearing a petition filed by one M Selva Kumar asking that the Thirukkural be declared as the National book of High values and virtues of India by bringing in a new Act and notification.

The Madras High Court recently dismissed a petition seeking a direction to the State and the Union governments to declare the classic Tamil text, Thirukkural as 'national book' and elevate it to the status of Constitution of India.
