The Madras High Court Monday adjourned the hearing in the suo motu revision case initiated against Tamil Nadu Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management KKSSR Ramachandran and others to Wednesday, February 7..Justice N Anand Venkatesh, who had initiated the suo motu proceedings in August last year against KKSSR and several other Tamil Nadu ministers, adjourned the hearing after the Court was informed that the Supreme Court had passed final orders in the Special Leave Petition filed by KKSSR against the Madras High Court’s decision to begin the proceedings against his discharge..While the Supreme Court directed the Madras High Court Chief Justice to either hear the suo motu matters himself, or to appoint another bench to hear it, Justice Venkatesh said he was adjourning the hearing to enable the High Court to go through the Supreme Court’s order..“This Court is informed that the Supreme Court has passed final orders in the SLPs filed in this case. Post all these cases to day after tomorrow to enable this Court to go through the Apex Court’s order ad pass further orders,” Justice Venkatesh said..On August 23 last year, Justice Venkatesh had initiated suo motu revision proceedings against orders of several special courts in the State discharging Tamil Nadu ministers, including KKSSR in cases of disproportionate assets.At the time, Justice Venkatesh had remarked that something very “rotten” seemed to be going on in the special courts and that he seemed to have “opened a can of worms” in having examined these orders and in initiating the suo motu revision proceedings..On Monday, the Court was scheduled to hear the suo motu cases against KKSSR and State Minister for Human Resource Management Thangam Thenarasu.
