The Central government has notified the appointment of two lawyers and five judicial officers as judges of the Madhya Pradesh High Court..The development was notified on Thursday by Union Minister of State (independent charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal through a post on on X (formerly twitter). A formal notification to this effect has also now been uploaded on the website of the Union Department of Justice. .The two lawyers now appointed as High Court judges are advocates Vinay Saraf and Vivek Jain.The judicial officers elevated to the High Court are Rajendra Kumar Vani, Pramod Kumar Agarwal, Binod Kumar Dwivedi, Devnarayan Mishra and Gajendra Singh..The names of the newly appointed judges were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on October 7. Notably, judicial officer Binod Dwivedi was recommended after acknowledging that he has crossed the age of 58½ years as on the date of vacancy against which his name has been recommended. He is an exceptionally fit and suitable officer who would be an asset to the institution, the Collegium recorded. .Further, the Collegium had also recommended two more advocates, Ashish Shroti and Amit Seth, for being appointed High Court judges. However, a decision on these names is yet to be notified. .As on November 1, the Madhya Pradesh High Court was functioning with 33 judges as against a sanctioned strength of 53 judges, leaving 20 vacancies.
