Former Desai & Diwanji Partner Madhavan Srivatsan has set up his own boutique corporate law office, called ‘Law Office of Madhavan Srivatsan’..The boutique law office will offer select and limited corporate legal services restricted to areas of M&A, Private Equity, Joint Venture and Corporate Advisory to mid-sized corporates, as well as the startup community..Madhavan completed his LL.B. from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University in 2001. He joined Desai & Diwanji in 2003, and was made partner in 2013. He left the firm in 2016 and joined Educomp Solutions Limited as Corporate Legal Head for a brief period of 5 months. In August 2017, he quit Educomp and started working on his own as an independent corporate lawyer in New Delhi..Speaking on his new venture and his focus area, Madhavan said,.“I intend to start and keep a very small office for the time being, maybe 1-2 people as I have realized an interesting avenue in the corporate law services..There are mid-sized corporates and startup entrepreneurs looking for some expert advice on M&A and Private equity and even Joint Ventures but cannot afford the cost of a law firm. These clients are willing to offer work on a regular basis if they get the same quality as compared with a law firm at a lower cost..Most of the times, these are target entities looking for fundraising. If one is able to manage and limit the scope of work with these clients, it can become an interesting work profile for a small boutique office. This is what I intend to focus on currently and not compete with any law firm of any size..This gives me the flexibility to work from home many times and at the same time remain indulged in my other passion and interests.”
