Legal League Consulting, recently organised The Economic & Law Summit, 2018 in Mumbai. The theme of the Summit circled around exploring the sectors that have contributed maximum to the growth of the Indian Economy, namely Banking & Finance, Infrastructure, Healthcare, Technology and Sustainable Energy.

The event was attended by several legal luminaries such as Former Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, Dr. Lalit Bhasin, Nishith Desai and Senior counsel Iqbal Chagla. Several eminent persons from the legal community, including practicing advocates, law firm heads and in house counsels were present along with persons from the industry.

Bithika Anand, Founder & CEO of Legal League Consulting, opened the Summit with a Welcome Address and highlighted that for the first time, the unique theme discusses about how law contributes to economic growth and in return, economic growth further fosters the advancement of law in diverse areas.

The Chief Guest of the Summit was Hon’ble Justice Dipak Misra, who spoke about the interdependence between economy and law and explained how law can be the enabling factor to make India a sustainable economy from a developing economy. He emphasised on the need for respect for human rights for development, which is also necessary for rule of law.

Lalit Bhasin was the Summit Chair and spoke about how the economy can progress by making ADR mechanism more powerful and with the help of judges dedicated to ADR.

Nishith Desai spoke about how the judiciary has been the biggest reformative in India. He also emphasised on the need for research in the legal sector, an element which appears to be missing today.

Various sessions through the day discussed the diverse opportunities Indian economy has in every sector and how can businesses be strengthened with law playing the role of an enabling factor. The panel discussions had eminent personalities from legal and business sectors brainstorming on significant issues concerning growth opportunities, desired policy changes, dispute resolution framework, supply-chain models, financing structures and expenditure by the public as well private players.

The Summit was followed by Leadership Excellence Awards, acknowledging the accomplishments of distinguished organizations and individuals who are go-getters and incomparable on their respective fields of work and stalwarts.
