[Uphaar Tragedy] Delhi High Court seeks response from State, Ansal brothers on victims' plea challenging reduction in sentence

A District and Sessions Judge had in July ordered early release of Sushil and Gopal Ansal in the evidence tampering case, on the ground that the trial court's order was harsh, onerous and disproportionate.

The Delhi High Court on Monday issued notice to the State government and Sushil Ansal and Gopal Ansal on a plea by Association of Victims of Uphaar Tragedy (AVUT) challenging the Ansal brothers’ early release in the evidence tampering case in connection with the Uphaar tragedy of 1997 [Association of Victims of Uphaar Tragedy v State of NCT of Delhi & Ors].
