Unless SC/ST Act is enforced, society free from caste-based discrimination will remain distant dream: Delhi High Court

The Delhi High Court recently held that courts should be extremely circumspect in quashing criminal proceedings under special statutes like the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act (SC/ST Act) [Puran Chand Gupta and Ors v The State of NCT of Delhi and Anr].
