The Tamil Nadu government on Monday appointed two Advocates-on-Record (AoR) to represent the State government before the Supreme Court.

Advocates Dr S Joseph Aristotle and D Kumanan have been appointed to this role.

Five vacancies had arisen after the resignation of Advocates M Yogesh Khanna, TRB Sivakumar and B Vinodh Kumar on May 26.

The State's Advocate General, R Shunmugasundaram had requested that AoRs Aristotle and Kumanan be appointed immediately to represent Tamil Nadu before the apex court since there are important cases slated to come up in the first week of June.

Accordingly, the appointments were notified on May 31.
