Supreme Court seeks response from Central government, ECI, States on plea for delimitation in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland

The Court issued notice on the plea which contended that the process of delimitation for States is a constitutional obligation that has not been met in the four States for the last 51 years.

The Supreme Court on Monday sought the response of the Central government, the Election Commission of India and the States of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradhesh on a public interest litigation petition seeking delimitation exercise to be carried out in the four States [Delimitation Demand Committee for the State of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur and Nagaland in North East India vs Union of India and ors].
