The Supreme Court on July 19, 2021 quashed the criminal proceedings initiated against DMK Rajya Sabha lawmaker RS Bharathi under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for a speech he made in 2020.
