The Supreme Court has officially released its calendar for the year 2025, outlining the schedule of holidays and working days for the upcoming year.

Notably, unlike previous years, the calendar for 2025 designates summer holidays as 'partial working days'.

Though there has been a change in nomenclature, the calendar does not prima facie indicate any change in the nature of the summer holidays and regular court proceedings will continue to remain suspended (with only vacation benches sitting to hear cases of urgency) while essential registry services will continue to operate throughout that period.

The partial working days will start from May 26, 2025 and full working days will resume from July 14, 2025.

"The partial Court working days will commence on Monday, the 26 May 2025 and the Full Court working days will resume from Monday, the 14 July 2025. The Registry of the Court will be functioning throughout the partial Court working days except on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. However, the Registry of the Court will remain open on last Saturday of the partial Court working days i.e. 12 July 2025," the calendar stated.

As per established practice, it is indicative that the vacation benches will also operate during these 'partial working days'.

These vacation benches will hear cases which require urgent intervention ensuring accessibility to justice through the summer recess.
