[BREAKING] Loan moratorium case: Supreme Court to deliver judgment tomorrow on plea seeking waiver of interest on interest

The RBI had on March 27 announced a loan moratorium scheme, which allowed lending institutions to grant temporary relief to borrowers on payment of EMIs falling between March 1, 2020, and May 31, 2020, due to Covid-19.

The Supreme Court will deliver its verdict tomorrow on a batch of pleas filed by borrowers in the loan moratorium case seeking waiver from interest on interest in respect of EMIs which were not paid by them after availing the loan moratorium scheme extended by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) during March 1 to August 31 in view of the COVID-19 pandemic (Small Scale Industrial Manufactures Association v. Union of India).
