Supreme Court issues notice on appeal against Bombay HC order which held writ petition not maintainable against Air India after privatisation

The Bombay High Court in disposing of the pleas in September had expressed regret at its inability to decide the petitions prior to privatisation of the airline.

The Supreme Court on Monday sought the response of the Central government and Air India Limited on an appeal against a Bombay High Court order that had held that ruled that writ petitions by employees against the airline over salary and promotion dues are not maintainable given the airline's privatisation [RS Madireddy and anr vs Union of India and ors].
