The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a plea seeking action against Union Minister Generel (DR) VK Singh for his recent comments that India transgressed the Line of Control with China many times (Chandrasekaran Ramasamy v. Union of India)..The plea filed by activist Chandrasekaran Ramasamy claimed that Singh's comment made on February 7, 2021 was in breach of his oath as a minister besides weakening India's position globally while giving an opportunity to China to justify its transgressions into Indian side of LOC..A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana said that the Prime Minister will look into it and the Court cannot interfere. "If you don't like a statement by a minister you file a plea and ask him to be removed. If he is not good, prime minister will look into it," the CJI said dismissing the plea. .General Singh had while visiting Tamil Nadu, said that "none of you come to know how many times we have transgressed (LOC) as per out perception. We dont announce it. Chinese media does not cover it. Let me assure you, if China has transgressed ten times, we must have done it at least 50 times as per put perception.".The plea said that the government authorities do not spare ordinary citizens for such dangerous anti-national offences and no special treatment should be afforded to General Singh.
