Supreme Court Collegium reiterates its recommendation to appoint two lawyers as judges of Karnataka High Court

Karnataka High Court is currently functioning with 45 judges as against its sanctioned strength of 62, a vacancy position of 17 judges.

The Supreme Court Collegium has reiterated it earlier proposal to appoint two advocates as judges of Karnataka High Court.

The Collegium in its meeting held on September 1, resolved to reiterate its recommendations with respect to the following two lawyers:

1. Nagendra R Naik

2. Aditya Sondhi

Naik's name was reportedly recommended in October 2019 and while Aditya Sondhi was recommended for judgeship in February 2021.
