Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana has recommended the appointment of 68 new judges to 12 High Courts across the country.
The decisions were made in two Collegium meetings, one held on August 24 and the other on September 1.
The Collegium considered around 100 names before it picked the 68. Out of the 68, 44 are lawyers while 24 are judicial officers. 11 out of 68 are women.
One of them, Marli Vakung is from a Scheduled Tribe community and is also the first woman District Judge from Mizoram to be recommended for High Court judgeship.
Kahketo Sema is the first person from Nagaland to be recommended for High Court judgeship.

Out of the above, 12 names are reiteration of recommendations made earlier by the Collegium.
