Supreme Court Collegium recommends appointment of 5 judicial officers and 2 advocates as judges of Gujarat High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, on Thursday recommended the appointment of five judicial officers and two advocates as judges of Gujarat High Court.

The recommended judicial officers are:

  • Susan Valentine Pinto

  • Hasmukhbhai Dalsukhbhai Suthar

  • Jitendra Champaklal Doshi

  • Mangesh Rameshchandra Mengdey

  • Divyeshkumar Amrutlal Joshi

The recommended advocates are:

  • Devan Mahendrabhai Desai

  • Moxa Kiran Thakker

The Gujarat High Court Collegium comprising of the then Chief Justice and two senior-most Judges unanimously made the recommendation on 26 September 2022, read notification.

Further, the Chief Minister and the Governor of the State of Gujarat have concurred with the recommendation, it added.

"For the purpose of assessing the merit and suitability of the candidates for elevation to the High Court, we have scrutinized and evaluated the material placed on record, including the inputs furnished by the Intelligence Bureau. We have also perused the observations made by the Department of Justice in the file," stated the recommendation notification.
