Taking into account the functioning of subordinate courts during the pandemic period, the Administrative Committee of the Madras High Court has resolved that subordinate courts in Tamil Nadu can proceed with physical hearings from January 18, 2021..Noting that all government and public institutions had reopened at full capacity presently, the High Court Committee decided that physical functioning of the lower courts can be resumed at full capacity, and subject to applicable SOPs, with an option open to the lawyers to opt for virtual hearings..Therefore, the Principal District Judges, Principal Judges, City Civil Court, Chennai, Court of Small Causes, Chennai and the courts at Puducherry have been directed to forward their suggestions for the physical functioning to the High Court Registry as well before December 23..Read the notification here:
