Senior Advocate Anil Kumar has been appointed as the first Additional Solicitor General of India for the Jharkhand High Court..The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment for a period of three years with effect from the date of assumption of charge till July 19, 2025..A notification to this effect was issued on July 11, 2022 by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions..Senior Advocate Kumar is considered an expert in white collar crime litigation, beside having expertise in dealing with Constitutional law and Administrative law cases..The senior counsel hails from an agricultural family; his father was an agricultural scientist. He pursued his primary education at Basia High School and completed B.Sc and M.Sc (Physics) at Ranchi University. He graduated in law from Law Faculty, Delhi University..He has served as one of the youngest additional district judges for two years, from 2002-2004. After his resignation, he resumed law practice and specialised in Constitutional, Civil, Criminal and Service cases..In 2013, when President’s rule was imposed in Jharkhand, he was appointed legal advisor to the then Governor, Draupadi Murmu. In 2015, he was designated Senior Advocate by the High Court of Jharkhand, and in 2011 he was elected the Secretary General of the Ranchi Advocate’s Association.
