Actor Kamaal R Khan (KRK) made a statement before the Bombay City Civil Court on Thursday that he will not make any defamatory remarks against Bollywood actor Salman Khan till the next date of hearing of the defamation suit filed by Khan. .By way of the suit, Khan and his company Salman Khan Ventures Private Limited sought an order against KRK restraining him from directly or indirectly making and uploading videos, posting, tweeting or publishing any defamatory content on Khan, his business ventures and their films/projects including the latest film 'Radhe'..Advocate Manoj Gadkari submitted on behalf of KRK that no defamatory remarks will be made till the next date of hearing.Additional Sessions Judge RM Sadrani recorded Gadkari's statement and posted the matter for hearing on June 7, 2021..The plaintiffs had come across a video posted by KRK on his YouTube channel titled 'Corrupt Bollywood' in which he made "scandalous, grossly defamatory allegations" against various Bollywood celebrities including Khan. The plaint stated that by flashing Khan's image in the video, KRK was allegedly insinuating that Khan is corrupt. It was further highlighted that the video received 5,17,035 views on YouTube and 7,990 comments from KRK's followers agreeing to claims made. .It was also alleged that KRK made assertions against Khan's brand 'Being Human' in another video posted on November 2020, claiming that the charity organisation was involved in fraud and money laundering. Salman Khan claimed that such false allegations will tarnish the goodwill, reputation and image of his brand built through years of hard work and efforts. .In the suit, Khan submitted that the film review video on Radhe, when viewed holistically in its entirety, contained false allegations that Khan and his business venture "was committing fraud to public at large, that they are corrupt, Plaintiffs are dacoits and should be booked for offence under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code."Khan submitted that the review by no stretch of imagination fell within the contours of 'fair criticism' of a film. .When Khan's team investigated into the posts uploaded by KRK, they found out that KRK had continuously been posting defamatory content on his social media platforms against Khan, his family members, their films and business associations for quite sometime without any basis. KRK, Khan contended, was misusing his social media platforms and fame to sabotage social causes and gain further fan following and viewership, which translates to wrongful gain. Khan also alleged that KRK's defamatory content sought to provoke people and incite communal hatred towards him..On these grounds, among others, Khan moved the City Civil Court on Tuesday..Khan has sought directions to be issued KRK to take down, block or disable access to all defamatory content against him, his business associations and/or their projects/films from all media where the content has been uploaded by KRK.The actor has also sought damages to the tune of Rs. 90 lakh and an unconditional apology from KRK published on all his social media accounts. .Khan and his business venture were represented by Advocate Pradeep Gandhy briefed by a team from DSK Legal including Managing Partner Anand Desai, Partner Chandrima Mitra and Associate Partner Parag Khandhar.
