A Thane court on Monday issued show cause notice against Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar in a civil suit filed by RSS Activist over Akhtar's alleged defamatory comment comparing RSS to the Taliban.
The defamation suit filed by activist Vivek Champanerkar before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thane, sought compensation to the tune of ₹1 from Akhtar.
The suit filed through advocate Aditya Mishra stated that in a show discussing the recent takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban, Akhtar allegedly drew parallels between the two organisations in order to defame and vilify Hindus.
The suit stated that the allegedly derogatory remark made by Akhtar against RSS was for "mere political score in a well-planned move to set narrative against RSS".
The applicant, a swayamsewak, would have appreciated if Akhtar criticised RSS in a "parliamentary manner"; but the malicious allegations compelled him to file the present suit.
"The plaintiff states that he has been hurt by defendant’s defamatory statement to tarnish the image of plaintiff’s organization and hence he is in loss of Re. 1 for which the defendant is liable to compensate him," Champanerkar stated in the suit.
Champanerkar claimed for compensation worth ₹1 and permanent perpetual injunction against Akhtar from making any such statements against RSS.
