[Rohini court blast] DRDO scientist arrested by Delhi Police

The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested a scientist with the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) for his alleged involvement in orchestrating the low-intensity Rohini Court blast that occurred earlier this month on December 9..According to News18, a personal rivalry between the accused and a lawyer, who was embroiled in court battles with the accused, was the motive behind planting the explosive.The report further said that the lawyer, who was targeted, had filed at least 10 cases against the accused scientist.."A serving scientist at the DRDO, charged with researching and developing for the military has been arrested," the News 18 report said.The evidence against him included his presence on the CCTV footage, where he was seen with a bag suspected to be carrying the explosive devices. The footage also confirmed the presence of the lawyer who was the supposed target of the scientist, inside the courtroom. The logo on the bag obtained from the site also matched with that of accused's cousin's company logo, the report further said.According to The Indian Express, the police also stated that they were currently trying to ascertain whether or not anyone else was involved, but they have ruled out the possibility of a terror angle.“Forensic experts said the bomb was placed in a steel tiffin and had ammonium nitrate-based explosives. It also had a significant amount of shrapnel," the police sources confirmed..The forensic team also confirmed to the Delhi Police that the tiffin bomb's circuit had not been assembled properly, due to which only the detonator could go off and not ammonium-nitrate based explosives, as was intended..The explosion had occurred inside courtroom no 102, injuring a person.This explosion took place a few months after a shootout had happened inside the Rohini Court, in September this year, leaving three people including gangster Jitender Gogi, dead and further raising security concerns in district courts..Blast inside Rohini court leaves one injured
