The Uttarakhand High Court and all the subordinate courts in the State will remain closed for a week from today i.e., April 26 till May 2, 2021, on account of the alarming rise in the number of persons affected by COVID-19..The Registry of the High Court shall also remain closed during this period, and will resume work from next Monday, May 3..The causelist of the High Court initially released for April 23 and later made applicable for April 26, will now hold good for May 3, provided that only such listed matters, which require an urgent hearing, will be taken up..If due to extreme urgency, the hearing of a matter cannot wait till May 3, the advocate concerned may request for hearing during this period..As far as subordinate courts are concerned, in addition to the urgent matters, work relating to remand and bail matters will be taken up, as is done on holidays..Process for getting urgent matters heard is as follows:For the High Court- Advocates may send their request through e-mail to the e-mail address of the Court, along with details of the facts of the case justifying the extraordinary circumstances that matter be taken up by the Court, despite its being closed. The e-mail address of for this purpose is hcuk.institutionsection@gmail.com.- Registrar (Judicial) shall place the matter before the Chief Justice with his report for further orders.- Where the Chief Justice orders for hearing of a matter by a Bench, Registrar (Judicial) will get the Cause List published, and will inform all concerned.- The matter shall be heard from residence of the Judge concerned, or from such place, which the Judge deems fit and appropriate.For all Subordinate Courts- Advocates may send their requests to the e-mail address of the District Court concerned along with details of the facts of the case justifying the extraordinary circumstances that matter be taken up, despite the Courts being closed.- Every District Judge will get an e-mail address created for all the Courts of the Judge for the aforesaid purpose. The details of the e-mail address shall be displayed in the official website.- District Judges will also publish details of one Judicial Officer, nominated by him, with his contact details on the official website, who may be contacted by the advocates for any information for the aforesaid purpose.- District Judge will decide as to if any matter requires urgent hearing during the aforesaid period.
