The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Wednesday took suo motu cognisance of several profiles on Twitter sharing pornographic content and issued notice seeking removal of all such content within a week. .NCW Chairperson, Rekha Sharma sent a notice to the Managing Director of Twitter India, Manish Maheshwari, asking him to ensure that all such pornographic content is taken down in a week's time . .In its notice, the NCW noted that Twitter had failed to take any action with regard to earlier complaints lodged in this matter..Sharma also wrote to the Commissioner of Police, Delhi to investigate further on this matter and take appropriate legal action..The Commission further stated that a similar complaint had been received against Twitter earlier and that the same had been notified to the social media platform immediately.
