Minor survivor's family/guardian must be notified when POCSO accused files plea for bail: Karnataka High Court

The Division Bench of Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi and Justice Suraj Govindaraj said that a survivor or complainant should be permitted to assist the prosecution if they so desire.

The Karnataka High Court has directed that the investigation officer or the Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) must inform a minor survivor's parents, caregiver, or guardian and lawyer (if appointed), if the accused files for bail or if there is any other application by the accused or the prosecution in cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO Act).
