A Delhi court warned an accused and asked him to maintain decorum, after he had joined a virtual hearing from his bed but could not produce any document in support of his claim of being unwell [CBI v. Sumedh Singh Saini & Ors]..Special Judge Sanjeev Aggarwal stated in his order,“Accused no. 1 Sumedh Kumar Saini has joined the proceedings through VC (Cisco Webex App). However, it is observed that he has joined the VC proceedings/Court while lying on the bed. On being asked, he submits that he is unwell and is down with fever.”.The order highlighted,“However, no medical certificate in this regard has been furnished or filed on record. Accused no. 1 is, accordingly, warned to be careful in future with his demeanour and maintain the decorum of the court, while attending the proceedings/Court through VC.”.Saini, a former senior police officer from Punjab, was chargesheeted along with others in a case of abduction, wrongful confinement and criminal conspiracy.
