Madras High Court slams Joint Commissioner, HR&CE for cavalier affidavit on encroached temple land

The Court has asked the Joint Commissioner, Tanjavur to explain on affidavit why action should not be taken against him "for the disrespect shown to the court in the manner in which the affidavit has been drafted."

The Madras High Court on Wednesday expressed strong disapproval over a cavalier affidavit filed by the Joint Commissioner (HR&CE Department) in a case raising concerns over the alleged encroachment of 400 acres of temple land and the assets of the Bhaktavatsala Perumal Koil, Thirukannamangai in Tiruvarur District.
