Karnataka HC directs State to reconsider decision to pay "unreasonably low" compensation to migrants whose shanties were burned down

The Karnataka High Court today directed the state government to reconsider its decision to pay compensation of only Rs 6,100 to migrant workers whose huts were burnt down by certain miscreants during the COVID-19 lockdown.

This direction was passed by the Court while dealing with a suo motu plea dealing with the burning of temporary shanties that had housed migrant workers in East Bangalore.
