The Central Authority has appointed Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman as the Chairman of the Supreme Court legal services committee.
The Central Authority, exercising powers under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, has appointed Justice Nariman to head the SCLSC after Justice Arun Mishra retired on September 2.
Section 3A of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 read with Rule 10 of the National Legal Services Authority Rules, 1995 deals with the appointment of the Chairman of the top Court's legal services committee.
The Legal Services authorities are tasked with providing legal aid and assistance to the weak and marginalized sections of the society.
