Judgment barring police custody beyond 15 days after arrest needs review: Supreme Court
The Court opined that at present, the 15-day period can get over by the time a higher court sets aside a decision denying custody.
The Supreme Court on Monday called for reconsideration of its 1992 decision in CBI v. Anupam J Kulkarni that said that a person cannot be detained in police custody after the expiry of fifteen days from their initial arrest in a case [Central Bureau of Investigation v. Vikas Mishra].
